The Dream That Reminded Me How Hard It Can Be to Receive

Last night I had a dream that stayed with me long after I woke up. In the dream, I was with a group of families packing up after visiting someone’s home. As we were gathering our things, I mentioned a luggage brand I’ve always liked.
It’s beautiful luggage. High quality. Expensive.
And in the dream I said something that felt very familiar.
“I love that brand but I would never buy it. It’s not practical. Luggage just gets beat up.”
A man standing nearby overheard me. A few moments later he walked over and handed me the luggage as a gift. And in that moment I understood the message.
Many of us have learned to justify not receiving. We might desire something. Appreciate quality. Recognize beauty. But immediately our minds step in with logic and restraint.
It’s not practical.
It’s not necessary.
It’s too expensive.
It doesn’t make sense.
This pattern shows up in more places than we realize. It shows up when people hesitate to invest in themselves. It shows up when someone says they want to change their relationship with money, but the moment an opportunity appears, their mind starts explaining why they shouldn’t.
It shows up when we are comfortable working hard, providing for others, and holding everything together but uncomfortable receiving support. Many people have been conditioned to believe that abundance must be justified through effort, sacrifice, or perfect practicality. But that belief quietly blocks the flow of resources. Receiving is not indulgence. Receiving is part of the natural exchange of energy.
When we allow ourselves to receive higher quality support, guidance, opportunities, or resources, we expand what is possible not just for ourselves, but for the people around us.
The dream reminded me that sometimes the path forward is not about pushing harder. Sometimes the invitation is simply to allow what is already trying to arrive.
This is exactly the work I help clients explore in my money sessions.
We look at the subconscious patterns, beliefs, and energetic blocks that make receiving feel uncomfortable or unsafe. Together we recalibrate your relationship with money so that abundance can flow in a way that feels aligned, grounded, and sustainable.
If you feel like you’ve been carrying everything yourself and are ready to shift into a new relationship with support, prosperity, and receiving, you can learn more about my money recalibration sessions here. Because sometimes the most powerful shift is allowing yourself to accept the luggage for the journey you’re already on.
